Clarification?

July 16, 2010 10:42 pm

Still waiting to hear on the tie-breaker procedure for this new Pool Play system in order to accurately keep up to date standings and seeds for PP2 since god knows how long it will take if we leave it up to some people. Also, BMU on my account has 2 missed votes already and by my understanding of the rules has a point deduction facing him his first game, unless the rules changed.

So whenever that can be clarified for me how we're breaking ties among 10 teams in the lower group, that would be great.

GAJ (2-0):

1.00pts = Harst ( team )  good vote, went in depth to the items that you addressed, just not the longest.
1.25pts = BMu ( team ) hit the minutes, major parts of the plan, some comments were just quick responses.
2.00pts = WCJ ( solo ) good vote, hit the minutes, major offense and defense sections.
0.75pts = Skins ( non-participant ) much better than the Jakey-List vote, thanks.
1.50pts = WCF ( team ) responded to minutes, hit the plans, made suggestions, good vote.
1.75pts = BucFan ( solo ) good vote, didnt hit the minutes, held back because of future matchups.
1.75pts = McGrady ( solo ) still a bit vague on the reasonings, too many "will do a good job on" comments.
1.00pts = Mr. Perry ( team ) hit the minutes, short comments on major points, decent summary.
1.00pts = 3G ( team ) good example of making your point with a short vote, opinioned and that's good.
3.00pts = Blood ( solo ) hit all the points, some of your other votes have been more thorough, but still fine.
3.00pts = Keith ( solo ) really shows that certain players make quite a bit of difference in some voters eyes.
0.25pts = Cain ( solo ) think of it this way, at least it's a vote, might of gone lower if this game was closer.
0.75pts = Brandon ( team ) double this if solo now, 6 good points made.

ATMD IV Rules and Code of Conduct

May 3, 2010 2:50 pm

ATMD IV RULES

Your ATMD IV Power structure :

Executive Branch:

President: kmvenne

Has final say in all issues. Can override the below when they speak in his absence. Can give point deductions in line with the powers below. Any veto can be overturned by 3/4s the Supreme Court or 2/3rds of the voting Execs. Don't expect this to happen. Don't ask for it. Hears complaints on Execs or courts, in private, via PM.

Vice President: BMu

Takes command when President is not available.  Is an adviser to the president. Is commissioned to speak on behalf of the President, anything he declares as an OFFICIAL ATMD PROCLAMATION should be considered binding. Along with President, is the only other man who will levy point deductions for rule breaking.

ATMD Ambassador: Blood_Baller

Will handle any relations with people outside of the mock draft.  If someone is interested in the competition and wishes to learn the rules or how to get involved they will go to him. New members should ask blood about things they are confused on. Will take command if President and VP are out. Does not rule on disputes, but will hear complains if the president is unavailable, via PM, on the Court or the Execs. He is instructed to ignore most of them.

Secretary or Records: WCF

Will keep track of draft and rosters.  Will also keep track during trading and free agent periods. Will be part of the ruling body on disputes.

Advisee to the Presidency: Harst

Will advise the President and Vice President on issues.  Will take command if the President, VP, and Ambassador are out. Is part of the ruling body on disputes.

Supreme Court: 3-4 Judges to be announcd soon, all to be outstanding superstar posters of the NBA board who deserve universal respect.

Main job is to judge vote value of votes during match-ups. Please see voting for clarification.  Can rule is Presidents actions go against the rules of the competition, or are in conflict of a fair contest. They are not to be questioned by any member of the contest on any ruling in public or private, or asked for any rulings. Any grievance with a Justice should go straight to the President or the Ambassador via PM. Questioning them on a decision or asking them directly for clarification is punishable by point deduction.

Draft Lottery Challenge : We will be all predicting the total score of two NBA first round playoff games (The two games on Thursday,  April 22nd between the two 1vs8 Seeds in each Conference ).  Whoever guesses closest to those game totals will get the first pick in the draft, the furthest away will get the last pick ( #16 ).  By 11:59 EST Wednesday, April 21st everyone will need to submit their predictions into Nugs via pm on THIS THREAD. Sending in your pick to Nugs (yes, Nugs) will be a second indication that you have read and agree to be bound by the rules of ATMD #4. People in teams of two, whoever does not make their pick neeeds to say "I agree to the rules/Cod of Conduct", otherwise your team will automatically be given the last pick. Failure to turn in your pick is unacceptable and grounds for possible dismissal.

Each team also needs to predict a tie-breaker total which will be the stat line of LeBron = ( total of his points, rebounds and assists ).

For Instance you will submit to me: "385 points for the total of the two games, 48 points for LeBrons statline total".

Beginning Divisions: Slot each team based on their draft position: North would be 1 8,9, 16 South would be 2,7,10,15 East would be 3,6,11,14 West would be 4,5,12,13. NOTE THE CHANGE.

NOTE: NO TRADES CAN BE FINALIZED UNTIL THE DRAFT OFFICIALLY BEGINS.  There will time in between when we have determined the picking order and the beginning of the draft ( Thursday, 4/22/09 ).  You can discuss trading draft picks all you want but nothing is final until the draft thread is created, as that will be the place to announce any trades.

Rules for Draft:

  1. All players who have been in the NBA for at least 1 full year are eligible for the draft.  That includes Michael Jordan.  Nobody is eligible that has played their entire career in the ABA.
  2. Number of rounds are 10, snake style draft ( 1-16 on odd rounds, 16-1 on even rounds ).
  3. Unlimited trading allowed ( either picks or players ) during the draft.  To be kept track by outsider helpers Nugs and GoHornets, as well as BOD members, in a recurring thread that updates all trades.  Trading will no longer be permitted 6 hours after the SECOND TO LAST TEAM has been picked ( team 10, pick 16 ). This way nobody can hold the draft up and try to game the system, unlike previous years.
  4. No trading of overall picking position, for instance if someone picks 3rd and if someone picks 5th, you can't swap picking position for the entire contest.
  5. Each drafting TEAM's pick time limit = 6 hours ( dead time is 1 am - 9 am EST, 10 pm to 6 am PST.). IF YOU HAVE 2 OR 3 OR 4 PICKS IN A ROW, you still only get 6 hours, it's not that hard to draft. If person doesn't draft in that time they are skipped and can come back anytime and announce their player as long as they are still available.
  6. You can change your mind on your selection as long as it's before the person picking after you announces their selection.
  7. Players are judged upon how they were in their prime of their career in the NBA, not how they played in the ABA or NBDL or NBA 2K10 (sorry Bl00d).
  8. Teams consisting of 2 Posters: Either member of the team can announce who the selection is, unless you expressly say one cannot draft. If you don't communicate well, tough.
  9. Send in draft lists to people outside the contest or people you trust who won't trade up to speed things along. Going to be gone for the night? Up in 4 picks? Send 4 names in order! It's easy!

Rules for Transaction Periods:

  1. Transaction Periods = 1. Trading Players 2. Drop Excess Players 3. Add / Drop Players
  2. Number of Transaction Periods = 2 total ( 1-After 1st pool games, 2-After 2nd pool games )
  3. "Drop Excess Players" list:  At the conclusion of each trading period, just before the add drop.  Anyone who has more than 10 players on their roster has to provide a list of who they are dropping into the free agent pool BEFORE THE ADD/DROP.  If you don't provide to a BOD your drop we  will pick them for you.
  4. "Add / Drop Period": Immediately following each trading period, order will be reverse order of standings.
  5. Number of chances each team gets during the add / drop period is a maximum of 2, each Poster will have 4 hours to make their selection or they will be skipped, you can come back and select a player if you have been skipped as long as no one else has taken him, he wasn't dropped between the time you were to pick and did pick, and it's before the final selection which officially ends the process.
  6. Once you have announced your add / drop selection, you can only change your mind prior to the next Poster making their selection.
  7. Trading Players unevenly is allowed.  For instance trading 3 players for 1 player.  You must have at least 8 players after trading so that during the add / drop period you can get back to 10 players.  If you are under 8 players when the trading period is over your last trade will be null and void.
  8. For Transaction Period's trading restrictions include "Original" Players only.  These are players that were on your roster prior to the Trading Period that leave your roster, any players you received from other deals don't count to that total.
  9. Announcing of trades.  Once a trade is announced in the threads by ALL parties involved it's final, one team can announce as the other team can say that "I agree".
  10. The amount of trades you will get will be based on your average team vote value. Again, see below for clarification. The standards are:
Team average of 2.5+ - 4 trades/7 players
Team average of 2.0+ - 3 trades/6 players
Team average of 1.5+ - 3 trades/5 players
Team average of less then 1.5 - point deduction moving forward, no trades.

Tie Breaking Procedures

  • Winner of Pool Play Division if 2 teams have equal record: Head to Head winner.
  • Winner of Pool Play Division if 3 teams have equal records: 1. Head to Head winner against other 2 teams. 1. best points for/against ration
  • Placement of teams in next Pool Play: 1. Overall win-loss record 2. points for/points against ratio

Rules for Matches:

  1. Word Limits to gameplans, during pool periods (1000 word max ), during tournament ( 1200/1300/1400/1500 word max ). Word Count does not include listing of rosters and minutes. Gameplans over the word limit are unacceptable and will not be accepted. Even if you get away with it before, that's not an excuse for the time you get caught. It is your responsibility to ensure your gameplan fits the standards. Without a gameplan within the word max by the deadline for gameplans, you forfeit.
  2. Requirement that each Coach must list the minutes played of each player in the gameplan, no more "Match LeBrons minutes"
  3. Requirement that each player must be designated to a particular position in the gameplans, for example if you have Moses Malone, you must say that he's playing 30min at C, 10min at PF. Using "guard" or "forward" is not good enough.
  4. Penalty if someone does not turn in a gameplan, once = forfeit, twice = removal from contest.
  5. Games that go into overtime or get "enough" votes will just continue on and won't push the next set of games back to mess up schedule. Teams must score at least 9.5 points to win. Matches that are tied in point value after 3 days will go into an overtime period of 24 hours where whichever team is leading at that time wins the match.  If it's tied still then we go into a sudden death period where the next 1.5 points wins.
  6. If someone doesn't turn in a gameplan they will lose the match by forfeit, the Poster who turned in their gameplan has the option to post only their gameplan for people to comment.
  7. When both teams fail to turn in gameplans, both teams get a loss
Rules for VOTING (HUGE CHANGE, READ).
  1. Voting value:
*Your votes will be judged by a impartial member of the Supreme Court. They will be judged for accuracy within a historical context, lack of bias, depth, and gameplan/roster understanding. They will be assigned a worth between 1-3 for a solo owner and 0.5 to 1.5 for a owner with a teammate.
  2. Their decision is final, and unquestionable in public. Problems go to the President or Ambassador. Neither one of them care much what you think. So don't have problems. Questioning a verdict by the Justice that presides over your game will incur you a point penalty in your current or next game.
  3. Votes are not to be questioned by anyone publicly. They are now graded, so votes you don't like will likely get lower scores and mean less, so you have no reason to whine. Complaining about the content of a vote strictly on it's content is ok. For example, you can say "Did you see where I said this?" You cannot say "Your moron, I clearly said this, your vote is trash." Whining about a vote will be punishable by kmvenne or BMu on a scaling point penalty. You keep whining, you keep losing games. You get enough demerits, the execs have the right to throw you out.
  4. YOU MUST VOTE IN ALL BUT 1 GAME EACH PERIOD. Here is the joy of the new system. No time? Write a simple 3 thought vote. You put down three reasonable thoughts, your vote counts. You have no excuse not to vote. It will take you 20 minutes tops to consider a game and pick a winner and say three reasons why. If you want your vote to count more and you want more trades, then make better votes.
  5. Missing more then 1 vote a period is cause for a scaling point penalty in your next game, first 2, then 4, then 6. Missing 4 more votes then you are allowed to miss over the entirety of the ATMD, including the tourney, is grounds for dismissal. If you go on vacation, find a board member to take over you voting. Nobody has any excuse to not have a vote placed in each game for them, now that you can literally just post a simple vote for it to count. Games being all but over are no excuse not to vote, we all particiate in this contest, even if you don't have a game this week. Do your share.
  6. If you miss tourney votes, even after you are eliminated, good luck being in the next tourney. You think we won't throw you out? Did you see how much we've already changed? We will do it.
  7. We are dead serious. We will cost you matches if you get out of line with point deductions. We will do it after game one. We will do it in the Finals. We are not tolerating people screaming bias this and bad vote that, if you don't think you can handle acting like a mature adult, don't play.
  8. PENALTIES: If you break the rules by calling out a Justice on a ruling, by arguing on a personal instead of basketball basis, by questioning the intengrity of your fellow members, or by stating in public what should be stated via PM, the penalty will be as follows: first offense 1 point on your next game, then 2, then 4, 6, 8, and so on. You will be tossed out if you get too many demirits, at the leisure of the President. Penalties will be escalated for major violations at the leisure of the President. Just behave and you will be fine. Ask yourself "What would Harst do?".

ATMD Code of Conduct Policy

Due to past occurrences in the ATMD and the CPMD we see it fit to do what is necessary to repair the image of this contest and the enjoyability for it's participants. With repairing past problems comes along a set of expectancies that you will be strictly held to.  This competition is already good, but we will make it great.

In Game Conduct

We will not tolerate publicly calling out a person’s vote as far the integrity or quality of said vote. We have a system in place where both those factors are now judged, so you have no reason to worry about either of them. Public expression of grievance will be met by a penalty.  If there is a grievance it should be filed with the Ambassador of the competition (b100d_ballin) via PM (Private Message).

If this grievance is viewed as a legitimate claim it will be sent to the Supreme Court for review.  An abuse of this grievance policy will result in a penalty to be determined by the President (kmvenne) or the Vice President (BMu_1963), so do not bother bl00d unless it is very serious.

All penalties levied in a game can be reviewed for fairness by the Supreme Court.

Arguments will be allowed during the game thread, but will not contain any questioning of a person’s agenda or competance, be it fellow competator, judge, or exec.  You can argue their views on players and how they feel they should be used, the stats, or point out things they may have missed, but nothing beyond that, with few expectations.

No personal attacks will be tolerated.  We want as much participation as possible, and we cannot get that if things are being done to drive people away.

Out of Game Conduct

In any discussion threads we once again ask you refrain from personal attacks about ATMD content.  Debate is allowed and encouraged, but anything we as a group view as crossing the line will be punishable.  Any conduct we view as detrimental to this tournament will be met with an iron fist.

People have before this been allowed to do things to make this contest unsuccessful, and we aim to eliminate any chance of history repeating itself.  These changes may be drastic, but we see them as necessary.  If you have any questions you can ask b100d_ballin via PM.
